home > Labor and Economic Justice

Both the Bush recession and our country's war on terrorism have seriously eroded the gains working families earned under democratic leadership. Republicans in Washington have bestowed billions of dollars in relief on big business; however, laid-off working families received no assistance. We will fight for these forgotten victims.

The balance of power within the American workplace must still be restored so that we can revive and reinvigorate our nation. Key to this revitalization is strong support of the right of workers to organize, to ensure parity with employers, bargain for fair contracts and retrain laid-off works for good paying jobs. We must not let working families become another casualty of war. Comprehensive public policy should be committed to training leaders who have the vision to create jobs and the strength to stop additional layoffs, furloughs and pay freezes.
